Step into the creative journey behind Merve, a character born from imagination and personal reflection. On this page, you’ll explore how Merve evolved from simple sketches to a fully animated 3D figure, embodying resilience, growth, and artistic experimentation.
Merve, Hair Line Collection #1, Digital Illustration, Procreate, 2023
Merve was born from an image I discovered in the strands of hair on my shower wall, symbolizing the emotional journey I endured following a traumatic loss caused by a chemical burn, resulting in me losing my hair. During that time, I began translating the shapes and figures I saw into sketches. This video documents Merve’s transformation from a fleeting moment of inspiration into a fully realized character.
After creating the initial design in Procreate, I moved on to sculpting Merve in 3D using Nomad Sculpt. This step helped me bring the character to life and allowed me to explore the possibilities of animating Merve, adding depth and dimension to the original concept.

Merve Travels Through a Portal, Mixed Media, Nomad Sculpt, Luma, Chroma Key, Premiere Pro, 2024
Before learning how to rig the .obj file I created in Nomad Sculpt, I animated multiple images of Merve using Luma. This helped me get a sense of how the final animation might look. After that, I imported the Luma video into Premiere Pro and applied the Chroma Key effect to remove the background. From there, I crafted the final video by layering sounds and visuals to create the composition shown above.

Merve Dancing, Mixed Media, 3D Model, Rigged and Animated in Blender, 2024

Watch as Merve comes to life in this animation! After rigging the .obj file, I imported it into Blender to choreograph Merve’s dance in a minimalist red room, which I designed to enhance the character’s playful and dynamic movements.

Merve’s Head, Mixed Media Sculpture, 2024

This paper mâché sculpture captures Merve’s distinct personality and serves as a wearable headpiece. Crafted with care, it brings the character to life in a tactile and playful form, bridging the gap between digital design and physical art. Wearing this piece allowed me to embody Merve, creating a unique connection between artist and creation.
